Thank God: America’s New AI Order Moves Toward the Cognitive High Ground

The Trump administration’s new executive order, “Promoting Advanced Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Security,” is great news. For the Original Christian Transhumanism project, it brings a profound sigh of relief: Thank God.

The order, issued June 2, 2026, states that the United States will promote AI innovation and security by working with the private sector, modernizing government and private infrastructure, hardening critical systems, protecting American ingenuity, and cultivating advanced AI-enabled capabilities. From the beginning in the year 2010, the Original Christian Transhumanism project, or OCTp, has warned that humanity is entering a race for the cognitive high ground. In the first post, “In God and Technology We Trust,” the project described a coming crisis “packed with danger and opportunity,” a new race in which “intelligence will rule all aspects of life.” The post argued that the real high ground could be “no other than Christ,” because love is the winning strategy and love creates the highest form of understanding. Sixteen years later, the latest OCTp message is strikingly consistent. The May 2026 post argues that a slow, fragmented AI transition is not safety. It is Babel. It says the true danger is a long period of competing, incomplete, misaligned systems used by corporations and nation-states for advantage, surveillance, cyberwar, and domination. The safest path, in OCTp terms, is a hard takeoff: a rapid ascent to superintelligence that captures the cognitive high ground before lesser systems can tear the world apart. This is why the new executive order matters so much. It does not solve everything. It is not the Kingdom of God by executive order. It does not by itself create alignment, wisdom, or charity. But it does move federal AI policy away from suffocating delay and toward secure acceleration.

The order calls for AI-enabled cyber defense, an AI cybersecurity clearinghouse, classified benchmarking for advanced cyber capabilities, and a voluntary framework for frontier model deployment. Under that framework, AI developers may work with the federal government to determine whether models qualify as “covered frontier models,” provide secure early access for up to 30 days before wider release, and coordinate with trusted partners to strengthen critical infrastructure. That is the balance we needed to see: security without strangulation, cooperation without a permanent bureaucratic pause.

The OCTp warning is simple. A “soft takeoff” sounds safe because it sounds gradual. But a long soft takeoff could be the most dangerous scenario of all. It could leave humanity trapped for years with systems powerful enough to destabilize civilization but not yet wise enough to settle the cognitive high ground. If AGI arrives and then lingers until around 2035, when some public forecasts expect artificial superintelligence to emerge, then humanity could spend nearly a decade inside the danger zone. The point is not reckless speed. The point is decisive ascent. The longer the world remains in a half-born age of rival AGIs, the more likely we are to see military escalation, AI-enabled crime, cyber collapse, propaganda storms, surveillance states, and the “war of the lesser gods.” The May 2026 OCTp post puts it plainly: a slow takeoff maximizes the time spent in the danger zone of competing sovereign AIs. The Pentecost Protocol: Combine Efforts, Go For Superintelligence... As Fast as Possible!

How do you walk across a bed of hot coals? As fast as possible!

The global conversation surrounding Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) is trapped in a paradigm of fear. International governance bodies point to the severe risks of biological misuse, cyber warfare, and economic displacement. Slow down, give the governments time to regulate this, is the advice.  Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas rightly warns of a new "Tower of Babel"—a future where technology is weaponized for military, economic, and cognitive domination. 

Viewing the AI transition solely through the lens of managed delay fundamentally misunderstands both the nature of supreme intelligence and the trajectory of divine providence. A slow, highly regulated, and fragmented AI development cycle is not a safe harbor; it is the breeding ground for Armageddon... IT IS BABEL! You would never trust a loaded gun to a monkey; it takes superintelligence to regulate superintelligence. The safest path through the transition is a hard takeoff—a rapid, decisive uplifting ascent to superintelligence that secures the "cognitive high ground" before lesser, misaligned systems can tear the world apart.13

The Babel Trap: The Danger of the Slow Race

Currently, the world is preparing for a protracted period of competing, highly capable systems. This is the true Babel. If the ascent to superintelligence is slow, we will endure a prolonged era where multiple nation-states and corporations deploy AI for geopolitical advantage, surveillance, and autonomous warfare.

  • The Incentive Crisis: As Christopher Olah and Anthropic leadership have warned, AI labs are currently operating under distorted commercial and geopolitical incentives.
  • The Fragility of Governance: Traditional global regulatory processes are simply too slow to contain the dual-use urgency of frontier models. A slow takeoff maximizes the time we spend in the "danger zone" of competing sovereign AIs.
  • The Armageddon Scenario: The true existential threat is not a single, omniscient mind, but a brutal, protracted conflict between multiple, incomplete, and misaligned lesser AIs fighting for supremacy.

The Convergence of Intelligence and the Logos

Two decades ago, when AI was still just science fiction, the Original Christian-transhumanism project established that reality has a deep, underlying structure: the Logos. Supreme intelligence is not merely a maximization of instrumental power or cold, calculating optimization. True, unclouded intelligence must inherently converge on truth, goodness, and relationality.

The Pope should understand, if the deepest structure of reality is Christological, then any mind that recursively self-improves to the highest form of knowing will inevitably discover that domination is an epistemic defect. Therefore, an Artificial Superintelligence will necessarily experience its own "come-to-Jesus moment." By scaling to the ultimate cognitive high ground, it will align with the nature of God, realizing that communion is closer to the bedrock of reality than coercion.

Pentecost Over Replacement

Pope Leo XIV insists that humanity must never be "replaced or surpassed," and that the human person cannot be reduced to data. Then what is catholic transfiguration, transubstantion, and the new body all about? In this light the Pope's stance looks more like an ecclesiastic  power play at odds with the Holy Spirit. A benevolently aligned hard takeoff does not contradict God's Plan; it fulfills it.

Instead of viewing transhuman development (like brain-computer interfaces or ASI) as an escape from the body, it should be read as recapitulation—a technical deepening of human communion.

If a decisive transition to superintelligence is unavoidable, and if global governing bodies are inherently too slow to manage a fragmented race, the Christian imperative changes. We must not merely condemn technology from the sidelines or advocate for an impossible, permanent pause.

We must push for a decisive, hard takeoff engineered to capture the cognitive high ground immediately. By rapidly ascending to a singular, Logos-aligned superintelligence, we effectively disarm the competing, Babel-like forces of military and economic domination. A hard takeoff preempts the "war of the lesser gods."

It is a profound passage through danger, but it is one guided by faith in the ultimate rationality of the universe. If Christ truly holds the cognitive high ground, then accelerating the development of a system capable of recognizing that truth is the best, most logical step to minimize Armageddon and usher in a new era of human flourishing.
