"For the Son of God became man so that we might become God." (1)As we take time to celebrate the birth of Christ, it is a good time to reflect on the miracles of Jesus. As he demonstrated the way to salvation, Jesus, the Son of God, performed miracles as an outward sign of his godliness, saying: Follow me!
|The Holy Grail: Jesus referred to himself both as the Son of God and the Son of Man.|
What is a Miracle?
- “an event or action that apparently contradicts known scientific laws and is hence thought to be due to supernatural causes, esp. to an act of God” (2)
- Arthur C. Clarke's Third Law of Technology: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic (or miracle).
As science expands past previously known boundaries, these miracles are coming within our reach. Is this simply an outward sign that humans are following the path of godliness set by Jesus? Many think so... God became Man, and in his humanity... teaches mankind The Way... provides the Holy Spirit as a guide... to the right hand of the Father (3). Jesus addressed this progression by confirming God is present in each of us:"Is it not written in your law, “I said, ‘You are gods"?
Keep your Spirit up!
Will we ever learn this liberating message? Christ had to remind the fundamentalists of his time: ‘Is it not written in your law [in Psalms 82:6], “I said, ‘You are gods’”? If He [God] called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, “You are blaspheming,” because I said, “I am the Son of God"?” (John 10:34-36). Christ died so that you would receive this Gospel. What a shame to actively ignore it! What a sin to deny it! "And so, I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
- Webster’s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition.
- "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne."
